Ontario's farmland feeds us.

It supports farm families, rural communities, local economies and our ability to produce food here at home. But agricultural land is finite. Once productive farmland is permanently developed, we can't simply make more of it.

That's why we're asking Ontario's elected representatives — from every political party — to help protect the land that feeds us.

Bill 21, the Protect Our Food Act, gives Ontario an opportunity to take an important step forward.

The bill would establish a #Foodbelt Protection Plan Advisory Committee that includes farmers, agricultural experts, soil scientists, planners and agricultural organizations. Together, they would make recommendations about how Ontario can better protect a connected agricultural land base.

Bill 21 would also require an Agricultural Impact Assessment before certain agricultural land could be rezoned or its permitted use changed.

But this petition is about something even bigger than one bill.

It's about recognizing Ontario's agricultural land as essential to our future.

It's about making sure farmers and agricultural experts have a meaningful voice in decisions about farmland.

It's about protecting opportunities for the next generation of farmers.

And it's about recognizing that every one of us has a stake in this.

We all eat. We all depend on the land that feeds us.

We're asking Ontario's MPPs to:
Support Bill 21, the Protect Our Food Act, and work across party lines toward strong, long-term protection of Ontario's agricultural land.

Protecting farmland shouldn't be a partisan issue.

Want your signature to officially count at the Ontario Legislature?
