OHR Closed
Well folks, here it is. The Archdiocese of Glasgow has officially closed Our Holy Redeemer’s while they "assess" the situation.
Who called it? We warned from day one that the merger with St. Margaret’s would inevitably lead to this.
Closing the doors under the banner of "health and safety" hides the reality: it should never have come to this. What we are seeing isn't a sudden, unexpected failure of the building—it is the direct outcome of long-term underinvestment and a total failure of church leadership- clergy and council.
This was a deliberate choice. You only have to look at how other Pugin-designed churches are cherished and preserved in other archdioceses to understand that heritage, faith, and community can be protected when there is the will to do so.
Our Holy Redeemer’s survived the Clydebank Blitz, but it’s being allowed to crumble under mismanagement. Our community deserved transparency, proper maintenance, and a genuine effort to save our Mother Church.
