Archbishop’s Response — Next Step, can you send an email?!

I wanted to share an update with everyone who has supported the petition to protect the future of Our Holy Redeemer’s.

I have received the Archbishop’s response to the objections that were submitted regarding the proposed merger of Our Holy Redeemer’s and Saint Margaret’s. In simple terms, the decision has not changed — he intends to proceed with the merger as planned.

I want to be honest about how this felt to receive. After comparing the letter with responses that others have received, it appears that for the most part everyone was sent essentially the same reply. That has been very difficult, because many of the specific concerns that were raised — about fairness, finances, the buildings, accessibility, and the future of Our Holy Redeemer’s — were not directly addressed. It feels as though the points made by parishioners were not fully considered in a meaningful way.

While this is understandably disappointing, it does NOT mean the process is over.

We have the right to appeal this decision to the Holy See (the Vatican), and that is exactly what I am now preparing to do.

This is where your support can make a real difference.

Tomorrow I will be posting:

• A simple email template you can use

• Contact details for the Vatican offices involved

• Guidance on how to submit your own respectful appeal

If you signed the petition because you believe Our Holy Redeemer’s deserves a fair chance, this is an opportunity for your voice to be heard directly. 800 emails would certainly raise attention. I am hopeful as St Patricks was in a similar position and has secured funding for works. There is hope!

Please keep an eye on the Facebook page (public) and group (private): Our Holy Redeemer’s: Past, Present and Future, drop us a follow!

Thank you again to everyone who has supported so far. Your encouragement, messages, and signatures genuinely matter.

🙏 Together we are standing for Our Holy Redeemer’s — past, present and future.
