Community spaces should mean more than simply having somewhere to go.

They should be places where people can participate without having to hide how they communicate, process information or cope with change.

Real inclusion can mean allowing more processing time, giving clearer information, understanding different communication styles and recognising that unexpected changes can take much more mental energy for some people than others.

After another week that has reminded me just how much invisible processing can sit behind everyday life, I’m continuing to campaign for community spaces where people can belong as themselves, rather than having to become easier for everybody else first.
