***UPDATE TRIDENT DATE CENTER *** - what we can do now
*UPDATE *on the Aurora GVR Trident data center e470 and 48th.
Today, September 21st, is the LAST DAY to submit a public comment on the project itself. If you haven't yet, please do it in the next few hours: https://devportal.auroragov.org/citizenportal/app/landing Scroll down to project list, search TRIDENT DATA CENTER AT WINDLER (project #1917130), use the comment tab and voice your concerns about the project.
Here's where things stand with aurora council: the buffer distance rules are still being drafted, and there currently aren't enough votes on council to require stronger protections for this specific project and others like this. Mayor Coffman, Stephanie Hancock (Ward IV), Angela Lawson (Ward V), Françoise Bergan (Ward VI), and Rob Andrews (At-Large) and Curtis Gardner have been on the side of weaker regulations, and NO on moratorium. We need at least one of them to reconsider. All of them are up for re-election in 2027, and this issue clearly isn't going away.
That means the two most useful things left to do are:
1) SHOW UP to speak at the September 28th council meeting (6pm, Aurora Municipal Center, sign-ups open the 25th) AURORA residents and non aurora residents are also welcome to speak.
2) REACH OUT directly to those council members, especially if you live in Ward IV, V, or VI. Many are up for reelection next year ask them for stronger regulations.
Mayor Mike Coffman mcoffman@auroragov.org
Stephanie Hancock (Ward IV) shancock@auroragov.org
Angela Lawson (Ward V) alawson@auroragov.org
Françoise Bergan (Ward VI) fbergan@auroragov.org
Rob Andrews (At-Large) randrews@auroragov.org
Curtis Gardner (At-Large) cgardner@auroragov.org
3)Attend tomorrow, Tuesday september 22nd there will be a community meeting at the Reserve Farmhouse at 6pm
This isn't over, it's shifting into a longer fight, and every voice still counts. If we are strong and united perhaps Trident could consider relocating to an area that isnt in our and our neighboors backyard and schools.
