Every year, thousands of women across the United States – especially those in low-income, rural, and minority communities – struggle to access the prenatal care they need. Unfortunately, many mothers lack transportation to clinics, cannot afford essentials like prenatal vitamins, and are unaware of local resources available to them. Additionally, Medicaid coverage consistently excludes crucial services such as doulas, mental health counseling, and group prenatal care, which leave expecting mothers unsupported and at risk of higher mortality, which disproportionately impacts Black women and marginalized communities. 

If we do nothing, preventable outcomes will continue. Maternal and infant mortality rates will continue to rise across the United States, and millions of mothers will continue to suffer. However, through grassroots support, we can effect change at both the state and federal levels. By signing this petition, you are helping support the expansion of Medicaid prenatal coverage, funding prenatal care kits, offering education programs, and incentivizing providers to expand to underserved areas – dramatically improving health outcomes for mothers and babies alike. We must prioritize equity, access, and compassion to create a maternal health system that protects and uplifts all women — starting before birth and lasting far beyond it.
