👏 Landers Heard Us. Palm Vista Showed Up. The Basin Is Coming Together — Now Show Up May 13! 👏
Thank you to everyone who has continued to sign, share, speak, show up, and help get information into the community!
This Monday, we brought Save Morongo Schools information to the Landers / Homestead Valley community meeting. Landers has now been publicly named in the closure scenario, and it was important to go there directly — not to speak for Landers, but to stand with Landers and make sure people have the facts, dates, and documents.
The response was encouraging. Community members listened, asked questions, stayed afterward to talk, and every flyer we brought was taken.
Landers has been named, but Landers has not been decided. The Board has not voted. The process is not finished. This is exactly the moment to organize!
The message remains clear:
No school should be closed before the public sees the full stabilization plan, real alternatives, receiving-school impacts, transportation analysis, student-transition plans, special education review, and administrative reduction options.
We also want to recognize the Palm Vista community and supporters who continue to organize, including the recent weekend gathering/picnic and “Keep Us Open” efforts. Every school community that shows up helps the whole Basin. Palm Vista, Landers, Morongo Valley, Friendly Hills, Yucca Mesa, Joshua Tree, and all MUSD communities are connected.
This is not one school against another. This is one unified public school system, and the district should not make communities compete over which school gets sacrificed.
Next major action: May 13 Enrollment Committee Meeting
The next Enrollment Committee meeting may be one of the most important yet — possibly the last committee meeting before recommendations are pushed toward the Board.

Your presence matters even if you do not speak!
If you do speak, the message can be simple:
- Ask the committee to make no closure recommendation to the Board at this time.
- Ask the committee to state clearly that the record is incomplete: no full alternatives analysis, no clear transition costs, no transportation impact analysis, no receiving-school capacity review, no equity/community impact review, and no complete stabilization plan.
- Ask committee members not to take responsibility for a rushed or predetermined process. If the committee cannot make a fully informed recommendation, it should say so clearly.
We need the committee to slow down, ask for the full information, and refuse to become the public voice for a recommendation that has not been fully studied.
