That means 1,000 of us believe in strong public neighborhood schools and in the future of Morongo Basin children, families, and communities.

But we are not done yet.
Today, before the Enrollment Committee even formally voted on what to present to the Board, the district’s message already began naming Landers Elementary as the school in the clearest closure scenario. That is exactly why people are losing trust in this process.
The community deserves honesty, transparency, and the full picture — not a rushed narrative, not selective framing, and not administrative convenience dressed up as necessity.
Morongo Valley, Landers, Friendly Hills, Palm Vista, and every MUSD community are part of one public school system for a reason: to serve children and families across the Basin, not to deliver the easiest managerial budget fix.
This is not one school against another. If Landers is named today, another school will be named tomorrow. A closure decision affects everyone: the school that closes, the school that receives students, the staff who are displaced, the families who travel farther, and the neighborhoods that lose a public anchor.
