Hello!
I wanted to let you know what an awesome job you have done! Each one of your individual signatures has grown into a team of supporters of nearly 1,000 people in just 3 short days. I personally feel moved, appreciative, invigorated, and hopeful. But more importantly, my hope is that it makes YOU feel that way too!
I wanted to share some of your comments from the petition:
"We have slim pickings in San Antonio. It will be a sad day if this happens. Please keep all the dirt trails." - Athena F.
"There are very few natural areas in town to enjoy. This is one of them. Leave it and improve it." - Leslie K.
"Leave it natural!" - Sharon S.
"I love parks like Olmos Basin Park & McAllister Park with all the oaks & winding paths and native vegetation." - Cynthia H.
For those of you who don't know who started the petition, I wanted to say hello! My name is Marjesca. I grew up in San Antonio and have enjoyed the trails and nature of McAllister Park since my youth. I have a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida, I worked for six years in the non-profit world as a field technician doing bird conservation and then as Director of Communications and Outreach. These days I am a licensed Realtor, accredited commercial property manager, and work alongside my mother in our small family owned real estate business. I support the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, enjoy reading San Antonio Business Journal and San Antonio Women's Magazine, and hope to get my Master Naturalist certification this coming year.
I think my background shows that I believe in doing good things to support small business and community and I believe in preserving and restoring nature.
"Under all is the Land," as the opening lines says in the Realtor Code of Ethics.
"When we see land as a community to which we all belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect. That land is to be loved and respected is an extension of ethics." That was written by Aldo Leopold, an important conservationist from the early 1900's.
The land we share under our feet on natural trails brings us discovery, excitement, peace. But there is not much left here in San Antonio. City people desperately need those opportunities protected.
The 10-foot wide concrete Greenway Trail through Mud Creek Loop will steal that opportunity from so many people.
If you know of someone who this might affect, could you email this petition to them? If you care about protecting and restoring nature, could you send this petition to a friend or family member who feels the same?

I hope all of you have a great Saturday! We're up to a 879 signatures now. Let's give McAllister Park some love and make it better for people AND nature.
