The Issue

Massachusetts family childcare providers and parents are facing a quiet crisis. Our Family home daycares are the backbone of our communities, yet current administrative enforcement lacks independent oversight and balance. When vague regulations are twisted, and unwritten rules are invented on the spot, local small businesses can have their programs shut down immediately, without due process. This leaves working families stranded overnight,  nowhere to send their children, and providers are unable to make an income to provide for their families. This process is detrimental to both the provider and the families they serve.

Right now, the system is designed for "punishment through process" where the state uses its power to drain a provider's livelihood and drag out cases for months on end without a fair, immediate hearing. This system is currently set up so that you are guilty until proven innocent.

We need the SEIU 509 Union Support. We need a Collective Bargaining Agreement that allows SEIU to introduce full accountability to the licensing process.

We are starting this petition to demand that the Massachusetts State Legislature take immediate action to bring real Accountability, Transparency, and Fairness to the  Department of Early Education and Care.

We are standing together as providers, parents, and community members to demand Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Due Process.
