I wanted to provide you with another update on our campaign to improve safety at the Duke Street pedestrian crossing.

Today, I sent a follow-up email to our local MP, Edmond Atalla MP, seeking an update on the proposed raised zebra crossing.

In my email, I highlighted that it has now been over 18 months since my two sons were struck by a vehicle while using this crossing. While we appreciate the speed limit reduction and improved signage that have already been implemented, it is concerning that we are still discussing whether further safety measures should be taken to prevent another serious accident.

The crossing continues to be used every day by hundreds of school children, mosque worshippers, local residents, and NSW bus passengers, making it one of the busiest pedestrian crossings in our community.

We have asked Mr Atalla to provide an update on the assessment under the Towards Zero Safer Roads Program and to continue advocating for the installation of a raised zebra crossing or other physical safety measures.
