Protect Lichfield city Bus Station

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents, businesses and visitors, are calling on Lichfield District Council to think again about any changes to Lichfield Bus Station that could reduce its size or limit access for buses and coaches.

Lichfield is a historic city that depends on people being able to get here easily. Visitors come from all over to places like Lichfield Cathedral, our markets, and to support local independent shops and businesses.

We’re also lucky to have Lichfield Garrick Theatre right in the city centre. Senior people there have said that visitors travel from across the country to come here often passing bigger and more well-known venues like Birmingham Hippodrome to do so. The Garrick is only a short walk from the bus station, which makes those visits possible for many people.

If access is reduced, it’s not hard to see what happens next fewer visitors, less footfall, and local businesses feeling the impact.

We’re asking the Council to:

Keep proper bus and coach access in Lichfield
Look properly at the impact on tourism and local businesses before making changes
Actually listen to residents, businesses and transport users before any decisions are made
This isn’t about stopping progress it’s about getting it right. Lichfield needs to stay open, accessible, and welcoming.
