On March 13th CCSD Board Members met to advance an Employee Code of Conduct Policy which would effectively ban teachers from discussing any topics relating to sexuality or gender identity and require parental consent for Guidance Counselors to discuss any topics relating to gender identity or sexuality with students. These policies will prevent students from exploring who they are in a safe environment and will even force students to come out to potentially unsupportive parents or family. Charleston County School District also refuses to take any meaningful action against instances of bullying of queer and trans students. 

Sign this petition to hold CCSD accountable for their harmful policies and willful negligence in response to bullying. Our LGBTQ+ students deserve to be protected and have space to explore who they are in a safe environment.
