The introduction of proposed housing bills— SB 677, SB 634, and SB 79—threatens to disrupt the cherished quality of life that residents have worked tirelessly to preserve. Lakewood's infrastructure is not equipped to bear the weight of increased traffic, pressure on public utilities, and the transformation of green spaces into dense housing blocks. Moreover, the environmental implications of such developments could risk the health and sustainability of our local ecosystem.

Residents are calling for Senator Lena Gonzalez to reconsider her stance on these bills. The community urges her to place constituents' needs above the interests of profit-driven developers and special interest groups. It's essential that solutions to the housing crisis respect the history, environment, and unique characteristics of Lakewood, avoiding one-size-fits-all policies that do not fit our community.
