Just a quick update on how the vote on SB 79 went down Friday afternoon. There are 15 members on the Assembly Appropriations Committee, so with 8 YES votes, the bill passed -- barely. BUT there are two hopeful bits of news: first, our Assemblymember Jose Solache' heard us and voted NO on the bill; second, there were significant amendments that may have made the bill a bit more palatable. We are waiting to obtain the wording -- it's a holiday weekend for everyone. 

Many thanks to all of you who signed the petition and made phone calls to the Assemblymember.

The next step is for the bill to go to the full Assembly for a full vote of that house. If it passes, it will go back to the Senate for another vote, because the Senate has to concur with the amendments made in the Assembly.
