Protect Infants from Forced Physical and Sexual Acts

The Issue

My name is Danielle Moon and I am a concerned parent and advocate for the safety and rights of our children. In April, my 9-month-old daughter, Rizzah, experienced a disturbing incident at her daycare. Her teacher, out of curiosity, forced her dry breast into my baby's mouth, despite having been explicitly told not to do so. This horrifying assault not only violated my child's personal boundaries but also resulted in the perpetrator being charged with mere misdemeanors.

This event was traumatic for our family, highlighting the urgent need for laws that protect children from such intrusive and unwanted actions. As it stands, our legal framework does not adequately address the severity of forced breastfeeding, particularly when no milk is produced. The lack of serious consequences in this case is deeply disturbing, and it's a stark indicator that our current legal protections are insufficient.

Across various regions in the United States, there have been numerous reports of similar incidents where individuals, driven by curiosity, have crossed the line, harming infants who cannot advocate for themselves. The psychological and emotional impact on young children in such situations can be profound and long-lasting.

We propose that strict laws be established making forced breastfeeding, under all circumstances, a criminal offense rather than a misdemeanor. These laws should reflect the seriousness of violating a child’s bodily autonomy. Implementing stringent penalties will not only serve justice but also act as a deterrent against future offenses.

We understand the importance of breastfeeding for those who choose it, but this choice should always be in the rightful hands of parents and guardians. Therefore, it is imperative to draw a clear legal distinction between consensual and forced acts.

We urge lawmakers, child protection agencies, and community leaders to join us in protecting our children. Let us work together to change the laws to ensure no other child has to endure what my daughter experienced. Please sign this petition to call for legislative action and ensure the well-being and safety of all children, respecting their dignity and right to personal boundaries. Your signature can make the change we so desperately need.
