Protect Indigenous Filipino Lands from Harmful Corporate Projects

Protect Indigenous Filipino Lands from Harmful Corporate Projects
The Issue
Land holds a sacred connection to the culture of Indigenous Filipinos. It is an integrated part of their identity, heritage, and survival. The escalation of large-scale development projects that involve mining, logging, and land grabs threaten not only their livelihoods, but also the rich biodiversity and natural resources that thrive in these areas.
The Philippines is one of 17 megadiverse countries with over 52,177 recorded species. 700 are endangered as 75% of Key Biodiversity Areas are within indigenous territory. In 2023, there was a 6% increase in hectares of projects near or within ancestral land.
Protecting ancestral land means protecting the future of generations to come and the ecosystems they look after. We must acknowledge the voices of IP's in order to promote sustainable development as this strives to work towards SDG 16, 15, and 3.
Sign the petition to stand with Indigenous Filipinos in their fight to protect their lands, their livelihoods, and their future.
