Reminder: HAVN Saunas and VMM are having an info session today from 5-7pm at the Maritime Museum during which they will try to convince attendees that the massive 150ft barge spa will be much smaller than it actually is, that it won’t block views, won’t cause any environmental damage, and won’t require dredging the harbour thereby eliminating Teetotaler Beach as a swimming beach.
This type of misrepresentation is what has now landed the floating hotel at the Convention Centre in Court.
There’s an article about this in the Vancouver Sun today that states:
“A legal challenge asks the B.C. Supreme Court to quash the City of Vancouver’s approval to allow a 250-room floating hotel in front of the Vancouver Convention Centre.
The petition alleges the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre misrepresented how the development would affect public views before the public hearing held on April 14, 2026.”

Try to attend if you can and let HAVN and the VMM know what you think about this misrepresentation and how the barge is not a good fit for this small harbour.
