Kia Ora e hoa! The Clutha District Council have announced their decision to adopt the 'Vehicles on Beaches Bylaw', which will take effect from the 1st of January 2023.

While the Clutha District Council did not vote in a blanket vehicular ban on beaches in the Clutha Region as requested by many entities; we are appreciative that they have voted in the below:
- People driving on beaches are required to do so in a way that does not threaten the safety of people, plants or native animals.

- Vehicles are not allowed on sand dunes, except to access the beach.

- Vehicles are not allowed to drive along the beach above the high-water mark, except in emergencies.

We consider this to be a positive step in the right direction, and a win for New Zealand sea lions/pakake and yellow-eyed penguins/hoiho conservation! Thank you all for your support over the past 27 months! You are appreciated.
