Let’s raise our voices for endangered species and support the ProTECT Act - The Prohibiting of Threatened and Endangered Creatures Trophies Act!
The ProTECT Act is a bill “To amend the Endangered Species Act of 1973 to prohibit the taking for a trophy of any endangered or threatened species of fish or wildlife in the United States and the importation of endangered and threatened species trophies into the United States, and for other purposes.”
There is no better time to make this bill a law! Many endangered and threatened species are being hunted in the U.S. as well as being imported as trophies into the U.S. and this needs to stop!
Recently, I requested a Freedom of Information Act from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to see how many trophy hunts were imported into the U.S. from Africa between 2015-2019. The results were astounding. Hundreds of elephants and rhinos and thousands of lions, leopards, and giraffes were imported into the U.S.
The ProTECT Act is now being reintroduced this year and we can help get this bill passed.
If you could do one thing to help protect endangered species in the U.S. and around the globe, it would be to contact your federal representative and ask him/her to sponsor and/or support the ProTECT Act!!
You can either call or email your representative. By taking 10 minutes of your time, you will be doing amazing work to help animals who need protection get the protection they deserve!!
