A quick update for everyone supporting our campaign.
The meeting with Fianna Fáil Councillors that was due to take place last Monday was cancelled by the Councillors and has now been rescheduled for next Wednesday 1st July.
While we are very disappointed that the meeting did not proceed as planned. We welcome the opportunity to meet next week and discuss the serious concerns that residents have regarding the proposed rezoning of the 17-hectare Greenbelt site at Moneygourney.
As we mentioned in our previous update, we are very grateful to 3 of our 6 local South East Ward Councillors who have already taken the time to meet with residents and have confirmed their support for our campaign:

With the Council vote now approaching on July 13th, every conversation matters. We remain committed to engaging constructively with all elected representatives and ensuring that the voices of local residents are heard before any decision is made. Residents have reported developer survey activity taking place on the site ahead of the Council's decision on the proposed rezoning. While such activity may be preparatory in nature, many in the community believe it sends the wrong message at a time when the rezoning proposal remains subject to a democratic decision by Cork City Councillors.
In the meantime, our campaign continues to grow. Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition, shared updates with friends and neighbours, displayed posters, delivered flyers and helped raise awareness across the community.
Please continue to encourage our neighbours to sign the petition and join us for our Community Walk on Friday July 4th at 12 noon. A strong turnout will send a clear message that residents want proper sustainable planning, adequate infrastructure and meaningful community consultation before any further large-scale development is considered.
Together, we are making sure that the future of Douglas and Rochestown is shaped by the people who live here. This is our opportunity to make it is a place worth living in for new and existing residents, and future generations.
