I was born and raised in Europe, the land known for its multicultural diversity, beautiful traditions, and exquisite cuisine. However, I feel my native land, its heritage, and traditions are undergoing an unwelcome transformation. Our food, part of our cultural identity is changing, attributed to what appears to be an expansive influence from outside of Europe, claimed to be in the name of integration. So, I am compelled to raise my voice and ask for the protection of our cultural heritage.

This petition is by no means a call to wage a war against any specific religious or ethnic group including Islam. Instead, it is a plea for safeguarding our traditions, our languages, and our way of life, that are becoming inconspicuous amidst foreign cultural influence.

It's well documented by the European Commission's report on integration that cultural and linguistic assimilation can cause distress among native inhabitants, and can potentially harm cultural diversity. (European Commission, Integration Report, 2019)

This petition is about finding a balance between a welcoming attitude towards immigrants and preserving native values. Cultural integration should not be a one-way road. It is about cultural exchange that allows immigrants to become a part of the hosting country, but also respects and preserves the identity of the native population.

Therefore, I call on European policy makers to create plans that protect our local cultures, languages, and traditions. One cannot merely adapt in the name of globalization, unity should not equate to the uniformity that threatens our cultural heritage.
