Competition in technology benefits consumers, businesses, developers, and innovation. When a company violates antitrust law, regulators and courts should impose effective remedies that restore competition.

Those remedies should also be carefully designed.

Google's products—including Search, Chrome, Android, Workspace, and other services—are used by individuals, schools, businesses, developers, and organizations around the world. Antitrust enforcement should target unlawful anticompetitive conduct without unnecessarily disrupting useful products or reducing consumer choice.

We support strong enforcement of U.S. antitrust laws while asking policymakers and courts to evaluate proposed remedies according to their likely effects on competition, consumers, privacy, security, innovation, and smaller businesses.

Effective remedies can include prohibiting exclusionary agreements, reducing unreasonable barriers to switching services, improving interoperability and data portability where appropriate, and preventing dominant companies from using unlawful practices to suppress competitors.

More disruptive structural remedies should be supported by evidence that they are necessary to restore competition and that less disruptive alternatives would be inadequate.

This petition does not ask Google to be exempt from antitrust law. Large technology companies should be held accountable when they violate the law.

It asks for something equally important:

Fix anticompetitive conduct without treating useful technology itself as the enemy.

Consumers should benefit from both vigorous competition and reliable technology.
