Protect Consumers from Cybercrime Cryptocurrency Scams — Demand Stronger Regulation and Aw

The Issue

My mother, like many others, was scammed by people in India and China. Her life savings was stolen from her due to unchecked fraudulent activity through Bitcoin ATM. Scammers use pop up ads among other things to exploit innocent citizens. In 2020 alone, crypto scams have amounted to an astonishing $1.7 billion in losses, according to a report by Ciphertrace. We need regulations to protect those who do not understand cryptocurrency and are at risk of fraud. Let's help citizens like my mother who fell victim to these scams. Sign this petition and stand up for financial security and justice. Things to know: 1. There is very little help (there is none) for victims of cyber scams. 2. The FBI has limited resources combating the scammers. 3. Yes, there are scammers in typical banking transactions, but it is not rampant like it is in cryptocurrency.
