Protect civilians in Iran – stop attacks on schools

The Issue

As a human rights advocate and community activist, I believe that every human life has equal value, regardless of where they live. Reports of civilians, especially children and students, being killed during military strikes in Iran deeply disturb me. Schools should always be safe havens where children can learn and build their future without fear. When these educational institutions and civilian areas are targeted in armed conflicts, it threatens not only lives but also the core values of humanity and international law.

In recent times, there have been alarming reports from reputable international organizations and media outlets highlighting the increasing number of attacks on schools and civilian populations in Iran. According to the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack, there have been multiple incidents in the past year alone, where schools have been directly targeted, causing significant casualties and instilling fear within communities. These acts not only endanger lives but also jeopardize the mental and physical well-being of students and teachers, further destabilizing the region.

It is imperative that the international community, including leaders, governments, and human rights organizations, come together to condemn these attacks and take actionable steps to ensure the safety of civilians in Iran. Such steps could involve implementing stricter international sanctions against the parties responsible, providing humanitarian aid to affected areas, and engaging in diplomatic talks aimed at guaranteeing safe zones for civilians, specifically children and educators.

This petition urges the United Nations, alongside other global powers, to intervene and pressure relevant authorities to uphold international laws designed to protect civilian areas and educational institutions during conflicts. Our goal is to ensure that schools remain sanctuaries, where every child has the right to education in a safe environment, free from the horrors of war.

By signing this petition, you are supporting a movement to safeguard the most vulnerable and promote peace and justice. Stand with us to protect the children and civilians of Iran.
