Protect Civilians and Restore Peace Through Dialogue in Ukraine

Protect Civilians and Restore Peace Through Dialogue in Ukraine
The Issue
War should never become normal. Yet today millions of people in Ukraine continue to live under the shadow of conflict, displacement, and uncertainty.
Since the escalation of the war in 2022, the humanitarian consequences have been devastating. According to international humanitarian agencies, over 14 million people have been displaced, thousands of civilians have lost their lives, and countless homes, hospitals, schools, and energy facilities have been destroyed.
Entire communities have been uprooted. Families have been separated across borders. Children have lost access to education and stability, while elderly citizens struggle to survive in conflict-affected areas.
The war has also had global consequences. Ukraine has historically been one of the world's major exporters of wheat, corn, and sunflower oil. Disruptions to agricultural production and trade routes have contributed to rising food prices and food insecurity in vulnerable regions across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
Behind these statistics are human stories.
A mother holding her child in a crowded underground shelter during an air raid.
An elderly couple refusing to abandon their home despite constant danger.
A young student attending online classes from a temporary refugee center in another country.
These stories remind us that war is not only about geopolitics—it is about human lives, dignity, and hope.
The suffering of civilians must never be ignored or normalized.
The international community must renew its commitment to diplomacy, humanitarian protection, and peaceful dialogue to prevent further devastation.
We Call For
• Immediate protection of civilians and humanitarian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and energy facilities.
• Expanded humanitarian assistance for displaced families and vulnerable communities affected by the conflict.
• Strengthened diplomatic engagement by global leaders to pursue negotiations and peaceful resolution.
• Full respect for international humanitarian law and protection of civilian populations.
• Long-term reconstruction and peacebuilding initiatives to help communities rebuild and recover.
Peace is not weakness—it is the foundation of global stability, justice, and human dignity.
