🚨 DEMAND AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION INTO TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN & SYSTEMIC FAILURES IN UK SOCIAL CARE 🚨

 

📢 Children’s services exist to protect children—but across the UK, serious failings are putting them at risk.

 

🔴 Recent reports from Sunderland Global Media have raised concerns about safeguarding failures within Together for Children Sunderland (TFC). A 3-year-old child was able to access a knife inside a toy box while at a contact centre—despite being under the supervision of children’s services.

 

🔴 A frontline social worker has also spoken out, stating that the system is “broken” and fears that children are being harmed as a result (Sunderland Global Media, 12 Dec 2024).

 

🚨 This is not an isolated issue. Across the UK, families, professionals, and experts are raising concerns that children’s social care services are failing in key areas:

❌ Ignored safeguarding concerns

❌ Lack of transparency in decision-making

❌ Manipulated reports used in legal cases

❌ Failure to act on genuine risks while focusing on minor or irrelevant matters

 

Families deserve a fair, accountable system—but right now, too many are being failed.

 

 

 

 

⚖️ WE DEMAND AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION ⚖️

 

We, the undersigned, call on the UK Government to:

 

1️⃣ Commission an independent review of Together for Children’s safeguarding practices and decision-making.

2️⃣ Ensure transparency by publishing the findings.

3️⃣ Hold those responsible accountable for any failings.

4️⃣ Implement urgent reforms to ensure fairness, consistency, and accountability in child protection cases across the UK.
