Protect Bullitt East Art programs!
The Issue
Bullitt East High School is currently gathering feedback on a proposal to transition from a 7 period schedule to a 6 period schedule. While this change may offer a few administrative benefits, the negative consequences far outweigh any advantages.
This change will devastatingly impact students involved in Bullitt East Fine Arts programs, including Band, Choir, Musical Theater, and more. Eliminating a class period reduces elective availability, forcing students to choose between required academic courses and their passion for the arts. Many dedicated students will no longer have room in their daily schedules to take these classes at all, forcing them to abandon their creative passions entirely. Consequently, enrollment across all Bullitt East Fine Arts programs will drop significantly, threatening the future growth, quality, and sustainability of our cherished ensembles and courses.
Our fine arts programs are a vital part of the culture, community, and Chargers spirit at Bullitt East High School. Arts education builds discipline, teamwork, confidence, and critical thinking skills that serve students far beyond high school. We must protect student choice and ensure every student has access to a complete, well-rounded education.
Sign this petition today to ask Bullitt East High School administration to KEEP the 7 period schedule and preserve our Fine Arts!
