The Issue

In recent years, the internationally acclaimed South Korean group BTS has become a cultural phenomenon, touching the lives of millions around the world through their music and messages of connection and positivity. However, their global visibility has also exposed the group and its members to instances of online harassment, threats, doxxing, and abusive behavior.

This issue affects not only BTS and their personal well-being, but also the wider ARMY community, who increasingly encounter hostile and abusive behavior across social media platforms. Criticism and disagreement are legitimate parts of public discussion. However, criticism should never become harassment, intimidation, doxxing, or threats of violence.

No individual, regardless of their fame or public status, should be subjected to threats against their safety or privacy. At the same time, everyone should be able to express criticism and disagreement without being attacked or intimidated themselves.

We therefore call on social media platforms to enforce their existing policies against threats, doxxing, targeted harassment, and incitement to violence consistently and effectively. Accounts that engage in serious violations should face appropriate consequences, including suspension or removal where necessary.

We also encourage platforms to continue improving their moderation systems, including carefully implemented AI-assisted tools alongside appropriate human oversight, to help identify and respond to serious harassment and threats.

This petition is not an attempt to silence criticism of BTS. People have the right to disagree with BTS, question their decisions, or choose not to support them. Our message is simply that disagreement must not become abuse.

By signing this petition, you are supporting a safer and more respectful online environment for BTS, ARMY, and online communities everywhere.

Criticism is allowed.
Disagreement is allowed.
Harassment and threats are not.

Please join us in standing against online harassment and supporting a culture of respectful discussion.
