A relative of Vasil Verameichyk has come forward with shocking new information: Vasil was not extradited to Belarus but kidnapped by, supposedly, special services. This blatant violation of human rights demands an immediate and united response from the global community to safeguard freedom fighters like Vasil.

A few days ago, a member of Vasil Verameichyk’s family reached out to me, the creator of this petition, through LinkedIn with shocking new information. They shared details that have fundamentally changed our understanding of what happened to Vasil and highlight an even more alarming reality.

Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that Vasil was extradited from Vietnam, evidence now suggests this was not the case. Vietnam’s authorities have denied any involvement in an extradition operation regarding Vasil Verameichyk. Instead, mounting evidence points to a sinister alternative: Vasil was likely kidnapped by special services loyal to the Lukashenko or Putin regimes.

This operation appears to have been thoroughly planned. Vasil, who felt refused by Lithuania and Europe after risking his life in the fight for common values, fled to Vietnam from where special services forcibly took him on a private jet. It can only be described as a blatant violation of international law. This kind of state-sponsored abduction is a direct attack on the principles of human rights!

Amid this grim update, Vasil’s family member wanted me to convey their heartfelt gratitude to each of you who has signed and shared this petition. They expressed their profound thanks for your solidarity—not just with Vasil, but also with the many other Belarusian veterans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who find themselves trapped by bureaucracy, indifference, and rejection. These veterans, heroes in their own right, have become easy targets for autocratic regimes that seek to silence their courage.
