Das Problem

Do you shop at Costco, Stew Leonards, or Home Depot? Picture an already challenging trip to these stores becoming even more difficult when you add a massive logistics center right next door. This will likely become your reality if the proposed warehouse development at 79 Austin Ave next to Home Depot in Yonkers is approved.

Envision a mammoth 201,760 sq ft facility with 21 loading docks, 272 parking spaces & 41 tractor trailer parking spaces, operating 24/7! (That's bigger than Stew Leonards) This massive facility would be built less than 50 feet away from homes and the developer is hoping that we aren't paying attention so they can push this monstrosity through the approval process which is currently under review with the Yonkers Zoning Board.

We need your help! Speak out and help us put pressure on officials to DENY this development!

Such an operation would completely destroy our quality of life, drive traffic and pollution levels sky-high, put public safety at risk, and send property values tumbling.

24/7 operations mean non-stop disruption, noise, and air pollution from diesel tractor trailers coming and going all day and all night! Traffic bottlenecks would cause delays for shoppers but even worse, they could delay emergency services, thereby posing severe risks to public health and safety.

Moreover, the environmental impact of such a large facility cannot be underestimated. Over 20 acres of natural land would be blasted, cleared, and paved. This would undoubtedly lead to increased stormwater runoff & flood risk to an area which already experiences heavy flooding. The strain on our local infrastructure to accommodate such a burdensome load is almost guaranteed to result in wear and tear, eventually translating to increased taxes as the city scrambles to repair roads and maintain public services.

Property values are set to suffer as well. Who would want to move into an area dominated by a massive industrial operation? As our neighborhood becomes less desirable, the community spirit and cohesion we've built over the years are at risk.

Do you want to stand on the side of your fellow neighbors & fight the billionaires who seek to enrich themselves on the backs of our communities?

We need to act now to preserve the integrity of our community.

Sign this petition to demand a halt to the Austin Ave warehouse development. Let local leaders know that prioritizing community well-being over industrial expansion is essential. Together, we can protect our homes, our environment, and our quality of life.

Write to your elected leaders and to the Yonkers Zoning Board of Appeals who is currently reviewing this application. Tell them this has no place in our community! Email: zbapublicc@yonkersny.gov
