Protect Animals Stranded in Freezing Cold During This Winter Storm

Protect Animals Stranded in Freezing Cold During This Winter Storm
The Issue
As extreme winter weather grips large parts of the country, animals are being left exposed to life-threatening cold.
A recent story from Kentucky showed a newborn calf born in single-digit temperatures, frozen and struggling to survive. A family brought her indoors to save her life. Not every animal is that lucky.
Farm animals, pets, and wildlife are suffering and dying from hypothermia, frostbite, and exposure during prolonged freezes. Many owners want to help but lack resources, guidance, or emergency support. Others are simply unprepared for cold of this severity.
This is a preventable crisis.
We are calling on state governors to act immediately during extreme cold events by:
- Issuing emergency guidance to protect animals
- Supporting temporary indoor sheltering and warming options
- Suspending penalties that prevent lifesaving animal care
- Coordinating with veterinarians, shelters, and farms to prevent deaths
- Protecting animals during extreme weather is a matter of public responsibility and basic humanity.
These animals depend on us to survive conditions they cannot escape.
Cold kills quickly. Action saves lives.
Sign this petition to urge governors to protect animals stranded in freezing temperatures.
