We’re thrilled to share that the Captain Mike Lowe mural is now complete — and what a week it’s been! Against all odds, the weather gods (and maybe Neptune himself) smiled on New Brighton, giving us the perfect window to bring this incredible tribute to life.
A huge thank you to everyone who’s donated so far — your support goes directly into making this happen. Every pound truly counts, and your contributions have turned a blank wall into a lasting celebration of our maritime heritage and one of its great local heroes.
Over the coming weeks (weather permitting — and it’s looking a bit grim!), we’ll be doing some minor repairs and touch-ups around town — quick wins to freshen up existing murals before winter sets in. We’ll be putting any leftover paint from Captain Mike’s mural to good use — a bit of colour, a few brushes, and some love to keep New Brighton looking its best.
Looking ahead, we’d love to realise another commission before Christmas if we can — but if not, we’ll hunker down for the winter, ready to clean and refresh all the murals in spring. Then comes the next wave — more stories, more colour, and more creativity for New Brighton in 2026.
Massive thanks again to everyone who stopped by during the painting to share stories of the River, the Ferry, and the town’s creative spirit. And of course, special thanks to artist Adam Bresnen (BREZAUX) — who’s once again delivered a stunning, heartfelt masterpiece for everyone to enjoy.
Your support means everything — please keep spreading the word and sharing our GoFundMe. Every donation helps us keep the art alive.
With gratitude,
The [NB] Creative Futures team
