We’re just shy of 500 signatures — and this week, something incredible happened.
New Brighton made national headlines. Both The Sunday Times and Metro included our town in their lists of the best coastal places to live in the UK.
Why? Because of our beach, our independent spirit, and — yes — our murals.
🗞 The Sunday Times praised New Brighton’s creative energy and resurgence.
📰 Metro called us “arty Brighton North” and highlighted Victoria Quarter’s vintage shops, vibrant bars, and iconic street art.
This is exactly what we’ve been saying all along: the mural trail isn’t decoration. It’s regeneration. It’s culture. It’s value — emotional, economic, and communal.
And yet… it still isn’t formally protected.
We’ve built something nationally recognised from the ground up. But without local recognition from Wirral Council, it remains vulnerable — to decay, to neglect, to the slow fade of goodwill.
Let’s make sure these murals aren’t just mentioned in passing, but supported in practice.
