Protect and Preserve the National Park Service's Integrity and Resources

The Issue

I am an avid supporter and enthusiast of the National Park Service. To me, this is more than just an institution; it is a symbol of preservation and a protector of our land's natural beauty. It serves as a guarantee that future generations will have a chance to explore and experience nature's serene majesty, as we do today.

However, I am deeply disturbed by the mounting pressures and challenges facing our parklands and their dedicated staff. From budget cuts to climate change and human intrusion, the National Park Service is under increasing duress. According to a report by National Parks Conservation Association, 96% of national parks are experiencing extreme air pollution levels which can endanger the health of park visitors, staff, and nearby residents (National Parks Conservation Association, 2020).

This current adversity is alarming, considering that the National Park Service oversees 400+ parklands, preserving an incredible 84 million acres of natural and cultural resources in the United States (National Park Service, 2021). The health and safety of the parks and their staff should never be compromised.

By signing this petition, you will contribute to the movement to protect our beloved National Park Service. Each signature is a call for adequate funding and resources for the parks and a plea for stronger regulations to combat pollution and overuse. It’s time for us to pay back and safeguard the natural beauty that brings us solace, inspiration, and essential connection to the natural world. Let us protect and preserve our National Parks Service for present and future generations. Please sign now, for our parks, for our people, for our future.
