Protect and Preserve the Bornean Orangutan

Protect and Preserve the Bornean Orangutan

The Issue

As someone deeply concerned about the welfare of Bornean orangutans, I am raising my voice to request immediate action to conserve these magnificent creatures and their natural habitats. Bornean orangutans are gracile apes native to Borneo who are now critically endangered due to mass deforestation and illegal hunting. According to the World Wildlife Fund, their population has more than halved in the last 60 years and their habitat reduced by at least 55% in the past 20 years. The destruction of their habitat for palm oil industry, logging, and human settlement is a harsh blow to their survival chances.

These endangered apes play a vital role in the health of the ecosystems they inhabit, helping to spread seeds across the forests. Their perilous situation has wide-reaching implications for the biodiversity and future health of Borneo's forests.

The loss of the Bornean orangutan and the devastation of its habitat is not only a tragedy for wildlife lovers like myself but it also a dire warning about the overall health of our global environment. We urge the local government, international societies, and conservation bodies to take effective actions to curb illegal hunting, halt destructive land activities, and promote sustainable forestry practices that respect the survival needs of Bornean Orangutans.

Please join me in saving these remarkable creatures from the edge of extinction. Sign this petition to raise our collective voices to protect and preserve Bornean Orangutans.
