It has been quite some time since I have shared an update on Leonard's case. In the fall of 2024 and spring of 2025, my grandfather and oldest son passed away within six months of one another. Although I have needed this time for my own grief and mental wellbeing, I have an update I owe it to all of you to share.
In early November 2025, I received news from their program manager that Leonard was finally accepted into Georgetown University's Making an Exoneree program! This past Friday, I attended a kickoff call to meet the bright young minds who will be pursing any legal avenues Leonard may have, filming a documentary, and raising awareness for his wrongful conviction. They will officially work on his case this entire spring semester and 3/4 team members volunteered to follow his case beyond that official timeframe. At this time in my life when I am doubtful I will be able to return to advocacy, I truly believe this was God's timing.
Thank you is not enough for those of you who signed, followed, and believed in the early days of 2021 when I launched this petition and Instagram. Once the documentary is available for viewing, I will absolutely link it to our petition and send out a new update.
Wishing you all a safe and blessed 2026.
With love, Mrs. Coleman
