8 years ago you signed a petition to prosecute Farage for inciting racial hatred in the 2016 Brexit referendum. Over 43k people agreed with you so we submitted the petition to the police. The complaint was then rejected by the CPS without explanation.
Reform UK, under Farage’s leadership, are once again using the same rhetoric and imagery to campaign in the 2024 general election. The slogan ‘Breaking Point’ was widely used in 2016, as were images of migrants crossing the Slovenian border. In one poster in 2024 Reform U.K. state “Criminals and ISIS terrorist living in our Hotels, and you are paying for it.” This is all very familiar.
With only a few days left in the election campaign I’ve reopened this petition. Whilst it is legitimate to debate policies relating to immigration, using campaign advertising like this, in my opinion, is likely to incite racial hatred. My suggestion is that, given the CPS route failed previously, we request that the rules on political advertising are tightened under the next government, so that these kinds of campaign tools cannot be used. What do you think?
