Save The Greenock Trees, Council Vote On Tuesday 26th September
Thank you for your support to help save the 14 Native Gum Trees in the Greenock Centenary Park.
You are one of nearly 1000 people who have signed our petitions.
More work is still to be done, as this issue is going to Light Council next Tuesday (26th September)
A report has been provided to the Councillors to vote on, with a recommendation from Council Staff to remove the trees.
This report:
Does not address what community consultation was undertaken.
Does not address the environmental significance of these trees as a habitat and wildlife corridor.
Does not address the statements of risk related to the trees, with either a risk assessment, engineer or arborist advice.
Does not adequately investigate alternate locations for the cricket nets and how decisions are being made.
To voice your concerns about a lack of consultation, please consider attending the council meeting 5pm on Tuesday 26 September or contacting your Elected Member or local Politician. Even a brief email, just a few sentences, will be extremely powerful.
