I am deeply concerned about the tensions and conflicts between my country, Cambodia, and our neighbor, Thailand. These ongoing disputes not only threaten the well-being and safety of the people living in both nations but also hinder our progress and prosperity. It pains me to see resources being spent on conflicts when they could be used to improve education, healthcare, and infrastructure for our communities.

Historically, the relationship between Cambodia and Thailand has been wrought with complexities, often dictated by territorial disputes and misunderstandings. However, the human cost of these plights is immense. Families are separated, lives disrupted, and the potential for regional growth stunted.

Peaceful coexistence is possible, but it requires sincere dialogue, negotiation, and a commitment to mutual respect from both governments. This committee should aim to foster communication, propose fair resolutions, and, most importantly, ensure that any agreement is honoured long-term.

The involvement of international peace organizations could help facilitate this dialogue and signify to both Cambodia and Thailand the global community's commitment to peace in Southeast Asia.
