Real estate brokers across India invest significant time, market knowledge, travel and professional effort in helping buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants and developers complete property transactions.

Their work includes researching properties, arranging site visits, coordinating meetings, negotiating terms and supporting clients throughout the transaction. However, brokerage payments are often linked to the final completion of a deal. When a transaction is discontinued midway, brokers may receive no compensation for the work already performed.

We are calling for greater transparency and fairness in real estate brokerage agreements across India.

We encourage the adoption of written agreements, mutually agreed milestone-based payment arrangements, clearly disclosed engagement fees where appropriate, and fair cancellation terms that protect the legitimate interests of all parties.

The objective is not to impose a universal brokerage rate or compulsory payment structure. It is to promote professional recognition, clear expectations and transparent agreements between brokers and their clients.
