Promote Equal Rights Across Caste Categories in India

Promote Equal Rights Across Caste Categories in India
The Issue
Growing up as a member of the general category in India, I have experienced first-hand the discrimination that exists between the various caste categories, specifically the general, Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Backward Classes (BCs). Despite the progress that has been made since 1947, these disparities have persisted and, in some cases, intensified, making life increasingly challenging for those in the general category.
While it is undeniable that SCs and BCs historically faced severe imbalances regarding education and poverty, today's socio-economic landscape has transformed significantly. Many individuals from these communities now enjoy enhanced living conditions, better educational opportunities, and an improved quality of life. However, the same cannot be said for those belonging to the general category, who often face systemic disadvantages.
The ongoing system of reservations and preferential treatment in various spheres, such as education, employment, and even government examinations, perpetuates a cycle of inequality. General category individuals often have to contend with less favorable conditions, such as higher form filling costs, stricter qualifying scores, and limited age eligibility compared to their SC and BC counterparts.
It's essential to acknowledge that we all possess the same capabilities regardless of our caste. This outdated system of categorization continues to sow division and must be revisited to create a more equitable society. As a nation, it's crucial to honor the principle of the right to equality enshrined in our constitution by ensuring that every individual, irrespective of their caste, receives equal opportunities without any bias.
We urge policymakers, education boards, and government agencies to reassess and modify reservation policies to reflect the current socio-economic realities. This change would help bridge the gap across various communities and ensure that all citizens have an equal shot at success and prosperity.
Please join me in advocating for fairness and equality by signing this petition. Together, we can call for a reformed, just system that upholds equal rights for everyone in India.
