PETITION FOR PRESERVATION, CONSERVATION, PROTECTION, EDUCATION AND FUTURE OF THE ENVIRONMENT, ECOSYSTEMS, WILDLIFE,HERITAGE IDENTITY AND CULTURE OF THE INDIGENOUS INHABITANTS OF PEDRA DE LUME, ISLAND OF SALT,

CAPE VERDIAN ISLANDS.

We believe in the conservation, preservation and protection of the environment, ecosystems, wildlife, indigenous inhabitants and heritage identity and culture of the people of Pedra de Lume on the Island of Salt in Cabo Verde.

We understand and agree that tourism is a vital part of helping to generate money and jobs for the inhabitants and families of Pedra de Lume and as such we are working towards two specific envisioned projects.

The first initiative is the preservation, conservation and protection of the wildlife among which is the beautiful and majestic sea turtle. We believe that in order to achieve this now and in the future that education is paramount and must begin at an early age which is why we would like to see the revitalization, rebuilding and reopening of the school of Pedra de Lume for early education on the subjects of preservation, conservation and protection of the environments and ecosystems as well as the importance of the history and heritage identity and culture.

Secondly, we believe that the financing for the rebuilding of the school, its operational needs and supply needs for the children can be easily met through first the preservation of the remaining heritage of the salt company structures and secondly the incorporating of the preserved heritage into unique and re-imagined tourist attractions presenting the heritage of Pedra de Lume which would generate all the initial, necessary and continuous funding needed for the school and school supply needs of the children.
