Good afternoon, everyone!

First, I want to thank you all again for signing the petition, urging KSU to enforce a no-plastic-confetti ban!

Second, I have launched a photography competition to help promote the cause! Everyone is encouraged to submit. Photography Competition for Students at KSU: Confetti

Or, if you're not too keen on taking photos, send it to a couple of friends who might! The goal is to gain a large database of related images while promoting the cause.

* Images are due September 1st, 2025

As we reach graduation week, we see more and more golden, plastic confetti littered across the green on the Kennesaw Campus. Don't get me wrong, it's really pretty in photos!

But... not only does it take hours for our hardworking grounds crew to pick up, but when left behind, it can be mistaken by our campus's wildlife for food. Additionally, confetti can flow into storm drains, where our aquatic life may mistake it for a small, shiny fish.

If someone dumped a bucket of plastic bags on the ground, they would probably be asked to pick that up. Why should we see plastic confetti as anything different?

Lastly, where am I in the process of speaking out to the administration? After speaking to the Sustainability Senator of the Student Government Association (SGA), she agreed to make a case to admin. I will admit, I have neglected this important issue this semester, but I will keep you guys updated. Life happens, but it's always been on the back of my mind! If you want to help out in any way, please reach out. :)

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Nelly Koz
