From a personal standpoint, I have battled with the psychological stress occasioned by the IXL learning platform, and I believe I am not alone. Many students worldwide have reported experiencing elevated stress and pressure levels from its use. This automated learning system can often feel impersonal and oppressive, reducing the joy of learning to a statistical race against time. A survey from American Test Anxiety Association in 2000 revealed that approx. 16-20% of students suffer from high test anxiety, while another 18% may be troubled by moderately-high test anxiety. IXL's structure is adding to these numbers. We need a more humane, compassionate way to assess understanding and promote learning, not a platform that fuels stress and anxiety. It's time we addressed this global issue by removing such triggers from our learning environment. We urge educational authorities and regulators globally to ban the use of IXL.
