Prohibit Rabbit Shows Nationwide

Prohibit Rabbit Shows Nationwide
The Issue
We call for the immediate prohibition of all competitive shows and exhibitions of rabbits, both in public and online, including on social media platforms. This includes banning the hosting of competitive rabbit shows and exhibitions, as well as the hiring of public and private venues for such events, including county and agricultural shows.
The relentless breeding and showing of rabbits is not only cruel but also exploitative and detrimental to their welfare. Many rabbits, especially extreme breeds prone to severe health conditions, are bred specifically for competition. They are often kept in inhumane conditions, subjected to long-distance transportation, and displayed in tiny cages.
Disturbing videos reveal terrified rabbits being mishandled by judges, highlighting the distress these animals endure. Rescue organizations frequently take in traumatized ex-show rabbits, while others are sold off or tragically killed for pet food.
It is time to end this cycle of suffering. We urge lawmakers to take action and protect rabbits from the cruelty of competitive shows. Sign this petition to advocate for a compassionate future for all rabbits!

Sally-Anne's Story
"Rabbits have been a huge part of my life. Wherever I have lived, I have volunteered at my local rabbit rescue. I usually have between six and eight foster bunnies in my garden and house, and I love them to bits! There is no nicer feeling than helping a little life, and then seeing them go off to a wonderful forever home.
However, rabbit rescues are in crisis. The Rabbit Welfare Association (RWAF) believes there are over 100,000 rabbits currently in rescue, and this is increasing every day.
But did you know there is an organisation called the British Rabbit Council (BRC) whose aim is to breed “fancy” rabbits and exploit them at shows, to win rosettes. Rabbits are bred in horrible conditions, transported all over the country, to suffer misery at shows, while being judged for their looks. As little prey animals, this is a terrifying environment. Rabbits are protected under the Animal Welfare Act, so subjecting them to this hideous hobby is breaking the very fundamentals of the law which gives them “protection from suffering”.
The British Rabbit Council says they do 1,000 rabbit shows a year.
THESE MUST BE BANNED!
Rabbits have rights, and are protected by law, so please stand up for them, by making sure rabbit shows are made illegal.
Please sign this petition!"
