Let’s ban these harmful dyes and preservatives in all of our food.

Harmful dyes and preservatives such as red dyes No. 3 and No. 40, yellow dyes No. 5 and No. 6, blue dyes No. 1 and No. 2, green dye No. 3, butylated hydroxyanisole, and propylparaben present public health risks.

Our neighboring state, West Virginia, has recently recognized this risk and passed legislation to ban these substances. It is time Pennsylvania does the same! Studies indicate that these dyes and preservatives can cause significant health effects, ranging from allergic reactions to increasing the risk of certain cancers (Sources: FDA, American Cancer Society).
