Prohibit Animal Testing!

The issue

As someone deeply moved by the plight of animals, I cannot bear the thought of my beloved pet suffering the brutal realities of animal testing. Day in and out, countless innocent animals endure the torment of such testing for our consumerism of products. The mere thought of it is absolutely heart-wrenching. Can you imagine your own pet suffering such atrocities?

Many people believe animals are not affected by animal testing, however, that is completely incorrect. Animal testing is a scientific experiment or test in which a live animal is forced to either consume, or have injected, harmful substances/chemicals into their mouth, eyes or skin. Animal testing also includes scientists surgically removing animals' organs or tissues to deliberately cause internal damage, all of which cause the animal lasting pain, suffering, bodily/emotional trauma and/or fatalities. The animal is most likely to die, but if it doesn’t, scientists continue to experiment on the animal until, eventually, it is subject to death.

Animal testing is increasingly problematic, due to many endangered species enduring these fatal experiments; including macaque monkeys, marmosets and baboons. Varying species are tested on globally, but the most common include fish, mice, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, birds, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and non-human primates (monkeys and chimpanzees).

Cruelty Free International reports that each year, approximately 115 million animals are used for experiments worldwide. This method of testing is not just increasingly inhumane but also scientifically redundant, as many viable alternatives exist. Lab-grown human tissues, computer modeling, and in vitro testing are just a few of the many that offer accurate results without putting animals in jeopardy.

Our call today is not just a battle for morality, but for progression. It is time we step up as a compassionate society and outlaw any form of animal testing. We must ban the sale and usage of all products tested on animals, holding companies accountable towards ethical consumerism.

Lend your voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. Sign this petition, save a life.
