Again we thank everyone who has signed this petition and congratulations - we now have over 2,000 signatures! While it is early days, the constructive direction of a conversation is continuing with Professor Kent Anderson at UWA. There is a glimpse of a change of thinking and that UWA might be prepared to consult its own esteemed academics to explore alternatives to the housing development. Future meetings with Prof Anderson may involve others from UWA staff to discuss possibilities. However, it is important that we keep up the pressure on UWA to reconsider. We are continuing to target UWA VC Prof Paul Johnson both through this change.org petition and through a second hard copy petition which is primarily aimed at the UWA internal community (staff and students). Efforts are in place to get this circulating within the UWA Community. Receiving the message to save the bushland from their own staff and students can have significant impact. Please let others know about this current change.org petition and everyone is encouraged to write directly to Prof Johnson expressing their concerns. Finally, the Friends of Underwood Bushland will have a presence alongside the bushland this coming sunday during the City to Surf HBF Fun Run. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Cockatoo costumes will be available to wear, banners for display and posters to waive at the runners and those watching on. Please join us.
