

We discussed this with Paul Rees and his team when we met them this month. He confirmed 18 members of staff had been dismissed for racism and bullying.
We know some of these members of staff will have been involved with the 3 whistleblowers around the time of The Rise Associates report. 1 of those whistleblowers is no longer alive having died by suicide on the 21st April 2025
Whilst it is positive that this is a step towards reforming behaviour and culture at the NMC what assurances are there that these staff members can not go on and do the same elsewhere? What recourse for those who were affected by their behaviour? How many others were allowed to retire or "move on" when culpability should have been ensured?
At our meeting we asked if the same assessments were going to be used on the legal teams as we see recurrent behaviour of bullying towards the registrant during FtP hearings, gaslighting and general coercive control tactics that should have not place in regulation or even law.
